How to Properly Prepare for Your New Roofing Installation Day

Summer is in full swing, which means it’s time for barbecues, backyard bonfires, and most importantly, roofing repairs. Even better, it’s prime time to get that new roofing installation taken care of. But are you sure you know how to prepare for the big day?

There’s no question that new roofing installation is a big job. That being said, it’s not just a big job for the roofing contractors. It’s a big job for you, too! And if you’re unsure of just how to prepare your home, here are a few tips to help you out.

Provide Access

If you want your roof repair or replacement to go on without a hitch, your roofing company needs to actually have access to your roof. Storm damage may have taken down a couple of bigger branches in your lawn, which means you need to clean them up. And anything you don’t want damaged should be out of the way, as well. That includes any potted plants, cars, kids’ toys, or other items that you hold near and dear.

Remove the Children

For all intents and purposes, a new roofing project will turn your entire home into a construction site for a few days. That means hammers, nails, and all manner of old roofing materials could be accidentally pitched from the roof into your lawn, and that’s not something your children need to be around. Whether they go to grandma’s for the day or take a trip to the zoo, it’s a good idea to get them out of the house.

Be a Good Neighbor

As previously mentioned, any roofing or gutter installation will inevitably turn your home into a construction zone, complete with lout noises and all. Whether you socialize with your neighbors on a daily basis or not, it’s a good idea to let them know what days the roofing crew will be there. Not only does this give your neighbors an idea of when not to nap, it makes you look like a nicer person in general.

New roofing installation is exciting, but don’t forget to do the prep work beforehand! Now that you know what to do, your roof service installation should be as smooth as ever. When you’re paying $2000 to $8500 for a roof installation, it pays to be prepared!
